Keith and I have had dogs almost all our lives. They have come in different shapes and sizes. We lost our 16 year old dog, and decided we needed a companion for our rescue dog. After a long search we found the Standard Rat Terrier and drove through an Alberta blizzard to get one. Thus started our Standard Rat Terrier experience that went from one Rat to 3 in no time! They are such a loving, trusting, loyal and smart dog. They make great family dogs, from the family on the go, to the couch potatoe cuddler. I know that this has been a wonderful experience for us and want to let others experience what we have been enjoying for so long by ourselves.
TheStandard Rat Terrier is an extremely rare dog in the United States where they originated from but in Canada they are even a more rare breed as there are only a few dogs being bred here. There are fewer than 300 breeding pairs in the world with fewer than 150 registered Standard Rat Terrier pups produced each year. If you own a Standard Rat Terrier you truly own a piece of heritage and history.
The Standard rat terriers offer so much to people from all walks of life.They are extremely loyal,very smart,easily trainable, have a great temperment and what we Rat owners call "Personality Plus!!"
